Oh wait. MY MISTAKE. the republican’s name is Anh "Joseph" Cao.
While it might not have been TOO much of a suprise that the bill passed, what astonished all was that Rep. John Shadegg, a republican, VOTED for the Dem’s bill.

This makes me (A liberal) happy, but what do you republicans think? How do you see this one republican?

Republican? You mean RINO.
Joe Wilson was right! | Nov 07, 2009

It’s his choice. But i’m sure you won’t see much of him after the next election.
Tom | Nov 07, 2009

Wrong person it was a person named COE from Louisiana but that person is the only republican on the RIGHT side of history.
Your Assistant | Nov 07, 2009

He is great American Patriot!
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan | Nov 07, 2009

Actually it was Joseph Cao from Louisiana if I’ve read correctly. And I think he’ll be unemployed in 2010.
Philosorator | Nov 07, 2009

He is a disgrace to his party, even though the Republican party is a mess anyway…
The Mick | Nov 07, 2009

Republican party is in a mess didn’t you hear last week when moderate gop candidate had to drop out for the " conservative " candidate, gop needs a very vital overhauling if they want to exist
Kevin | Nov 07, 2009

I think he voted for what he thought was right. I harbor no feelings against him at all.
Southern Baptist | Nov 07, 2009

There were more Democrats that voted against the bill than Republicans that voted for it. I commend those Democrats for feeling wary of the Dem’s outrageous and expensive bill.

How much did they pay him to sell his soul is what I want to know?
0bamaLiesLikeBush | Nov 07, 2009

I’m glad most Republicans voted against. The Repub who did will be answering to the constituents he betrayed just like the 219 Democrats.
Johnny Sokko | Nov 07, 2009

Wrong…. Rep. Joseph Cao, a first-term Republican who holds an overwhelmingly Democratic seat in New Orleans. Opposed were 176 Republicans and 39 Democrats.
Yak Rider | Nov 07, 2009

Republicans are going the way of the dino. Can’t wait til they’re all gone.
cmcav@yahoo.com | Nov 07, 2009

Well i reckon obama is a gosh darn it good speaking man! cause cao sure was hypnotized.
Monica R | Nov 07, 2009

He’s a jerk and America is finished Beginning of a socialistic government leaning toward communism
Imnotplayin | Nov 07, 2009

Firstly, the Repub who voted for it was Joseph Cao of Louisiana. And it’s a horrible move, not on the grounds that I’m against the bill, but because he went against the wishes of the people who elected him. Which is the ONLY job our reps are supposed to do. It’s that way with the electoral college sometimes too. "Never bite the hand that feeds you."
Jedicato, "Matches" AM | Nov 07, 2009

It was Rep. Joseph Cao from New Orleans.

Michael Steele needs to cut off his campaign funds. It’s politicians like this that make me turn away from the republican brand.
Tired Trucker | Nov 07, 2009

I am a Libertarian but I want to answer your question.

First of all, Shadegg voted against the bill, it was Cao who voted for it.

Second, he’s a RINO to Republicans, and to me he is just stupid, but I see his logic behind his choice. The district he represents is New Orleans, so perhaps he is trying to build a left-leaning rep to keep his seat. I think it will come back and hurt him in the end unless he runs as a Democrat, as I’m sure a Democrat would take it in 2010. I doubt Cao will make it through the primaries because the Republicans are going to slaughter him.
The Butterfly | Nov 07, 2009

John Shadegg didn’t vote for it, it was Joseph Cao from LA.

He won’t win the party nomination for 2010, it will probably be a black Republican in the heavily black district.

The only reason Cao won was William Jefferson was incredibly corrupt and it was still close.
