Forrest GumpForrest Gump (1994)

IMDB rating: 8.20

Plot: The story follows the life of low I.Q. Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) and his meeting with the love of his life Jenny. The film chronicles his accidental experiences with some of the most important people and events in America from the late 1950’s through the 1970’s including a meeting with Elvis Presley, JFK, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, fighting in Vietnam, etc. The problem is, he’s too stupid to realize the significance of his actions. Forrest becomes representative of the baby boomer generation having walked through life blindly.

Without a doubt, A Clockwork Orange. Not only are there some very interesting scenes in it, I can understand the Nadsat (it’s a mix of Russian and Cockney slang) and I can understand what happens in the film. Suffice it to say, I’ve seen it 150 times, probably more than any other movie. That being said, I’ve seen all of Stanley Kubrick’s movies about 1000 times when all is said and done, with 50 viewings of The Shining, 25-30 viewings of Full Metal Jacket, 25 viewings of Dr. Strangelove, 15 viewings of Lolita, 30 viewings of 2001: A Space Odyssey and 15 viewings of Eyes Wide Shut. I think I’ve seen Barry Lyndon the least, maybe only 4 or 5 times total. I’ve seen Spartacus numerous times and Paths of Glory enough times to know it’s one of, if not his best. That may not add up to 1000, but I’ve seen a lot of his movies many times. Enough times to know that Kubrick is my favorite filmmaker.
